Our Beliefs
At Betesda Church, our faith is grounded in the Word of God as our sole rule of faith and practice. We are an independent church with Pentecostal roots, and we believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to transform lives, heal, deliver, and equip the saints for service in the Kingdom of God.
1. The Holy Bible
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, infallible, and fully sufficient to guide us in every area of life (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
2. The Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).
3. Jesus Christ
We believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His vicarious death on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to heaven, and His imminent return (John 1:1-14; Acts 1:9-11).
4. Salvation by Faith
We believe that salvation is a gift of God, received by faith in Jesus Christ, through repentance and the new birth (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:3-5).
5. The Baptism with the Holy Spirit
We believe in the baptism with the Holy Spirit, as a distinct experience from salvation, accompanied by evidence such as speaking in tongues, and that it empowers the believer for service and witness (Acts 1:8; Acts 2:4).
6. Spiritual Gifts and Ministries
We believe in the continued operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as prophecy, healing, tongues, and discernment, and in the functioning of ministries for the edification of the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12; Ephesians 4:11-13).
7. Deliverance and Healing
We believe that Jesus still delivers the oppressed and heals the sick. Therefore, we invest in training and ministries that equip members to exercise these ministries both inside and outside the church (Mark 16:17-18).
8. The Christian Life and Discipleship
We believe in practical and transformative discipleship, which encourages each believer to develop a solid devotional life through the reading of the Word and personal prayer (John 8:31-32; Colossians 2:6-7).
9. The Church
We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ on Earth, called to proclaim the gospel, make disciples, and serve the community with love and compassion (Matthew 28:19-20; Ephesians 1:22-23).
10. The Return of Christ
We believe in the literal and visible second coming of Jesus Christ, when He will return to gather His Church and establish His eternal Kingdom (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 22:12).
